*HAB Play Up Policy

Upper and Lower division T-ball was introduced at HAB a few years ago in recognition of the  developmental differences of 4-6 year old children.  In the lower division, the most basic aspects are taught and the kids get their first baseball experience at the park. They learn about the idea of a team, fundamental baseball rules and how great the concession stand is.  

The upper division of T-ball is an effort to build on baseball fundamentals and to help transition the older players to the Rookie level as they become age appropriate. Additional levels of rules, strategy, and execution are introduced and they still always want something from the concession stand.  

Beginning with the fall 2015 season, HAB will introduce a few upper T ball division rules that will serve as a bridge to the next level of baseball.

T-ball Upper Division Rules:

• Players will be counted “out” and shall return to the bench when they are tagged out, forced out at a base, or when a fly ball is caught. Outs will be counted by each respective coach and shared with the individual team as a means to add excitement and challenge to the T-ball experience. No team standings will be kept.
• The infield shall consist of 5 players: Pithcer, 1^st Base, 2^nd Base, Short Stop and 3^rd Base.
• Players will be encouraged to make the appropriate baseball play, based on the situation.
• We will attempt to keep the rosters at 10 players if at all possible.  Additional teams will be added according to registration and availability of willing coaches.

Placement in the Upper/Lower divisions will be based on the player age. 4 yr. olds & young 5 yr. olds will be placed in lower division and older 5 yr. olds & 6 yr. olds will be placed in upper division.  Placements will be subject to the discretion of the T-ball Commissioner.
