New HAB Bullpen Leads to More Opportunities

A dedication to offering more kids the opportunity to learn pitching led a group of volunteers to bring a much needed feature to HAB. 

Four new pitching lanes were added to the existing two, giving what HAB Pitching Coach Jay Kaplan calls the most complete pitching development area in the area. "When we set out to expand, we simply wanted to give our kids a place to learn the basics and work on improving their craft," said Kaplan. "This new space will allow more kids the opportunity to learn to love pitching." 

The new area also added permanent home plates, new pitching rubbers, and distances to accommodate Minor, Major, and Junior League pitching distances. There are also fixed tarps to protect the pitching mounds from inclement weather. Still to come is the addition of repair dirt, and a shed housing maintenance tools for upkeep.
