Hello and welcome to HAB!

I truly hope this message finds all of you doing well as we approach the Fall 2015 season.  For those that do not know me, I am the Hendricks Avenue Baseball League president.  I adopted the role from Vince Koren in January of 2015, and I have since come to TRULY appreciate his efforts over the past seven years.  As I expected, it’s certainly a demanding, yet rewarding responsibility.  And I am excited to continue the wonderful work that Vince has done and to honor the HABL legacy that started nearly 70 years ago.  

Thankfully, as has always been the case, there are many dedicated and talented folks around me, whose continued support really makes our league thrive. Involvement in such a wonderful organization has provided an opportunity for myself and many others to form relationships for kids and parents that will last a lifetime.  Volunteers are what makes our park a special place, so I encourage each of you to participate with our team, as there are always plenty of opportunities to get involved. Now is more important than ever to join us as we launch our Have A Ball park improvement campaign. You can find more information about volunteering throughout the new website. 

This is a great time to be a part of HAB. We have launched our new development initiative, with a concentration on upgrading our facilities, our website, and our game day experience. And to honor our history, we have even brought back our original colors of green and yellow.  We are proud of our improvements and what we’ve begun but have a long way to finish the job. You will notice changes everywhere you go in and around the park and I encourage you to share your ideas on making HAB a better place.   

The HABL goal has always been to provide an enriching, inclusive environment for all of our ballplayers and their families.  I personally spent much of my childhood at my ball park and was able to benefit from the influence of many wonderful families over the years.  We are blessed that our park offers the same opportunity for positive influence to our children.  As coaches and volunteers, it is a privilege to be trusted to a position which so profoundly impacts your sons and daughters.  With that as a core notion, we will continue to impress upon all of our ball players the importance of core pillars: Respect, Teamwork, Responsibility, Leadership, Self-Worth, Fairness and Caring.  We hope these qualities and lessons provide the tools they need to become good citizens and future leaders of our community.
